DEFCON AI, an insights company pioneering next-generation modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) tools for the modern military environment, has raised $44 million in Seed funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners to enhance strategies for the military environment and commercial sectors.
The round led by Bessemer Venture Partners also saw contributions from Fifth Growth Fund, Red Cell Partners, and others. This funding will enable DEFCON AI to expand its team, advance its R&D program, and extend its core capabilities across Defense missions and the commercial sector.
“At DEFCON AI, we are developing powerful solutions to reshape response planning in contested and disrupted environments,” said DEFCON AI Co-Founder and CEO Yisroel Brumer.
“We bring to the Department of Defense (DoD) our capacity to quickly field transformational software innovation so that defense leaders and planners have the tools to effectively coordinate operations and plan around disruptions. Our ability to do this dramatically improves the odds of materiel and manpower making it to their destinations without delay,” he added.
Driving Innovation in Military and Commercial Logistics
DEFCON AI, headquartered in McLean, VA, has rapidly gained traction since its inception in 2022. The company has already secured significant contracts with the Department of the Air Force, delivering its first product with positive feedback. With this new funding, DEFCON AI plans to enhance its dual-use offerings, allowing public and private entities to predict and respond to disruptions more swiftly and efficiently.
David Cowan, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, highlighted the importance of DEFCON AI’s mission: “The security of the U.S. increasingly depends on innovative software that delivers speed, intelligence, and resilience. DEFCON AI’s extraordinary team of career public servants and military leaders is uniquely positioned to partner with the Defense Department to build smarter, more nimble logistics capabilities.”
“Few organizations can take high-end software engineering and artificial intelligence expertise and combine it with a deep understanding of the battlefield and defense operational requirements to rapidly deliver the kinds of technology that the DoD needs the way we can at DEFCON AI,” said Gen. (Retired) Paul Selva, a DEFCON AI Co-Founder and its Chief Strategy Officer.
With algorithms built to allow planners to immediately respond to disruptions, DEFCON AI has already established itself as a valuable partner to the DoD.
Empowering Decision Makers with Advanced Tools
Led by CEO and Co-Founder Yisroel Brumer, DEFCON AI leverages artificial intelligence, mathematical optimization, simulation, analytics, and software engineering to empower planners and leaders. The company’s tools are designed to help strategize transportation modality, sustainment, and logistics operations, particularly in challenging environments.
Hon. Mark T. Esper, Chairman of Red Cell’s National Security Practice and former Secretary of Defense, emphasized the critical role of DEFCON AI’s technology in today’s complex geopolitical landscape. “In an era of great power competition marked by increasing complexity and unpredictability, DEFCON AI reduces these factors and empowers decision-makers across a full range of scenarios,” said Esper.
With this funding, DEFCON AI is well-positioned to continue supporting the Defense Department and expand into the commercial sector, enabling enterprises to move products faster, better, and more economically.
