Blaize Inc., an AI computing developer based in El Dorado Hills, CA, has raised $106 million in fresh funding, signaling a significant stride in AI chip innovation. The funding came from a diverse consortium, including heavyweights like Mercedes Benz and Franklin Templeton, highlighting the growing demand for advanced AI solutions in various sectors.

This funding injection underscores Blaize’s commitment to revolutionizing AI chip technology for edge devices and data centers.

Blaize Inc. specializes in cutting-edge AI chip development and optimizing power efficiency and performance for neural network processing. The company’s flagship product, the Blaize 1600 chip, is engineered with a specialized design centered around graph processing. This pivotal computer science concept enhances data processing capabilities.

“Our unique, fully programmable approach makes us ready for the unknown. This is ideal in the fast-changing AI applications landscape, de-risking and reducing cost for our customers, scaling from the edge to the data center, with one uniform and complete hardware and software solution,” said Blaize Chief Executive Officer Dinakar Munagala.

The Blaize 1600 chip’s versatility extends to diverse applications, from edge computing to data centers. Its 16 cores optimized for graph processing enable it to handle up to 16 trillion computing operations per second, making it a compelling choice for connected devices with energy constraints.

The newly raised capital will fuel Blaize’s ambitious product development and commercialization initiatives, strategically focusing on expanding its foothold in key sectors such as automotive, computer vision, AI inference, and generative AI. This move aligns with Blaize’s vision of delivering real-time insights and decision-making capabilities across various industries.
