Silicon Valley tech company XL8 Inc., has released Projects, version 2.0 of its MediaCAT platform, which aims to revolutionize localization and translation in the media industry. MediaCAT initially focused on API integrations with localization service providers but has now become a comprehensive localization workflow platform supporting various users.
Projects combines speed, quality, accuracy, and collaboration through asset management, editing, and automation capabilities. It enhances the creation of production-ready, multilingual content and reduces time and cost.
MediaCAT’s AI-based activities include Speech-to-Text transcription (Sync), Machine Translation (Translate), and Synthesized Voice (Dub). Professional linguists can post-edit the results in the Subtitle Editor for greater accuracy.
The workflow starts with Sync, which automatically extracts text and generates time-coded subtitle files. MediaCAT supports 37 languages for Sync.
The next step is translation, where the subtitle file is translated into multiple languages using XL8’s Context-Aware engines, providing a more natural and localized translation.
For native language viewers, MediaCAT uses text-to-speech technology to create synthetic voices aligned with the video and subtitle file.
Projects in MediaCAT enable qualitative views and collaboration, supporting individual users and teams. Users can upload subtitle or media files, create projects, and upload glossaries or supporting transcript files. Technical settings can be adjusted before completing the Sync job and accessing the Subtitle Editor.
Team Workspaces allow coworkers and freelance translators to collaborate. Team members can be assigned to edit and review subtitles in specific languages within a project.
XL8 offers media content services such as text and subtitle translations, auto subtitling, synchronization, and synthesized dubbing and voice-overs. Their translation technology stands out due to the use of Context Awareness models, ensuring effective and accurate translations.
XL8 plans to further enhance the platform with Version 3.0, focusing on improving the user experience, expanding AI-based subtitle editing capabilities, and supporting the end-to-end localization and translation process. The platform aims to streamline the LSP workflow and leverage AI for efficient and cost-effective localization.
