San Francisco-based Cortex, a leading developer productivity platform that offers an internal developer platform that enhances developer productivity by streamlining software development processes through automation, has secured $60 million in Series C funding.
The round, led by Scale Venture Partners, also saw participation from Sequoia Capital, Y Combinator, and Institutional Venture Partners. Cortex aims to use the funds to expand its platform, which focuses on improving internal development processes through automation, engineering intelligence, and artificial intelligence.
Founded in 2019, the startup offers an internal developer platform designed to help engineering teams manage software development efficiently. The platform is a centralized hub, allowing developers to quickly access crucial information, reducing time wasted searching for data. With Cortex, teams can catalog services, track ownership, and monitor operational metrics to ensure compliance.
Cortex Enhancing Developer Productivity
The platform boosts developer productivity by automating routine tasks like ownership tracking and incident management. By integrating with existing tools, Cortex automatically updates key information like software ownership and on-call details. Additionally, the platform provides predefined workflows or “golden paths” that simplify new software setups, further streamlining development processes.
“We’re investing in Cortex because it’s solving two mission-critical issues for engineering teams: centralizing the information needed to understand, operate and build new software and creating a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement,” said Scale Venture Partners partner Eric Anderson.
A Continuous Improvement Culture
The tech startup emphasizes a culture of continuous improvement. The platform includes scoring and assessment tools that evaluate compliance and provide actionable recommendations for improvement. By cataloging essential resources and services, teams gain visibility and control over their development environments, which helps improve service quality and velocity.
Cortex’s growing client list includes well-known names such as Adobe, Grammarly, and Opendoor. With the new funding, the company plans to expand its platform’s capabilities, focusing on workflows, engineering intelligence, user interface, and AI integration.
With the fresh capital injection, Cortex will accelerate operations, expand its market reach, and continue developing features that empower developers to prioritize business-critical work.
