Odigos, a tech startup that leverages eBPF and OpenTelemetry to revolutionize distributed tracing for modern applications, has raised $13 million in a funding round led by Venture Guides.
The round also witnessed participation from Salesforce Ventures, Mango Capital, and Firestreak Ventures. Angel investors included Martin Mao, CEO and Co-founder of Chronosphere, Christine Yen, CEO and Co-founder of Honeycomb, and Ben Sigelman, Co-founder and CEO of Lightstep (acquired by ServiceNow).
Founded in 2023 by Ari Recht (CEO) and Eden Federman (CTO), Odigos aims to simplify distributed tracing, enabling developers to monitor data requests without code changes or performance impacts. This innovative platform leverages eBPF and OpenTelemetry to offer a fully automated solution for tracing distributed systems. The company plans to use the funds to expand its operations and enhance its development efforts.
Odigos Addressing Developer Challenges with eBPF
Odigos addresses common developer challenges by automating distributed tracing with eBPF, a kernel-level technology. This allows customers to implement accurate tracing with any observability tool. Unlike traditional solutions, which demand extensive manual configuration, Odigos offers automatic context propagation streamlining monitoring for modern distributed applications.
Odigos has already begun working with major enterprises to provide seamless observability without the need for code modifications or performance slowdowns. Automating complex processes helps companies gain insights into system interactions, latency buildup, and failure patterns across various services.
Founders’ Expertise
Ari Recht and Eden Federman bring years of experience in the tech and observability sectors. Eden, a leading contributor in the eBPF and OpenTelemetry communities, has been instrumental in developing the monitoring systems used by major companies such as Yahoo and Taboola.
“Odigos transforms observability by automating distributed tracing without compromising performance,” said Recht. “This funding will allow us to continue solving developers’ biggest challenges and further enhance our platform’s capabilities.”
Odigos is poised to revolutionize the observability landscape with its unique approach. It empowers businesses to see their systems fully without significant overhead or complex configurations.
