AI-powered wildfire detection platform Pano AI has secured $44 million in Series B funding as the wildfire technology leader advances its real-time wildfire intelligence and early detection solution across global fire-prone regions.
The round, led by Giant Ventures with support from Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures, Tokio Marine Future Fund, Congruent Ventures, Initialized Capital, and Salesforce Ventures, brings Pano AI’s total capital raised to $89 million.
“Wildfires are becoming more frequent and more destructive every year, and we have built powerful tools to put in the hands of emergency managers on the front lines to help combat this crisis. This additional capital allows us to accelerate our mission to equip first responders with the best technology to protect communities, safeguard our critical infrastructure, and build a more resilient future,” said Sonia Kastner, co-founder and CEO of Pano AI.
Pano AI, a Turning Point in Wildfire Response
With wildfires becoming faster, fiercer, and more frequent, the need for cutting-edge wildfire technology is urgent. Pano AI steps into this escalating crisis with a platform that fuses high-definition cameras, AI algorithms, and satellite data to provide real-time wildfire intelligence. As wildfires charred nearly one billion acres in 2024 alone, early detection solutions like Pano AI’s have become more vital than ever.
Founded in 2020 by Sonia Kastner and Arvind Satyam, Pano AI has transformed how governments, utilities, and emergency responders detect and respond to fires. Today, it supports over 250 first responder agencies across the US, Australia, and Canada, bringing them vital seconds in situations where every moment counts.
“Pano AI is creating the early detection infrastructure needed in wildfire-exposed regions of North America and Australia, but this is now a global challenge, and we are proud to join Pano on its mission,” said Masashi Namatame, group chief digital officer at Tokio Marine Holdings.
A Fire Contained, a Future Envisioned
The power of early detection came into sharp focus on June 16, 2024, during the Bear Creek Fire in Douglas County, Colorado. As lightning struck dry terrain under Red Flag conditions, Pano AI’s platform was the only system to detect smoke.
Within minutes, it provided precise triangulated coordinates. That critical intelligence enabled a helitack team to respond rapidly, dumping 18,000 gallons of water. Meanwhile, a 40-person crew made the two-hour trek to the fire site. Thanks to Pano AI’s early alert, the fire was held to just three acres.
This isn’t just a one-off. With nearly 30 million acres under active surveillance, the company’s AI-powered wildfire detection platform has become the gold standard in real-time wildfire intelligence. Utilities such as Arizona Public Service, Portland General Electric, and Xcel Energy now rely on Pano AI. Similarly, ski resorts, forestry services, community associations, and renewable energy firms also do so.
“In today’s wildfire environment, every minute counts,” said Mike Alexander, director of emergency management for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
“Pano AI gave us early confirmation and precise coordinates that allowed us to launch a rapid aerial and ground attack in a remote watershed that provides drinking water to over one million people. That critical lead time helped us contain the Bear Creek Fire before it became a more destructive event. Overall, Pano has become an essential part of how we conduct modern wildland fire fighting in Douglas County,” added Mike.
Scaling Wildfire Defense with Bold New Capital
The $44 million Series B is not just about growth; it’s about reach. With contracted revenues surpassing $100 million, Pano AI is deploying its AI-powered wildfire detection solution at scale, transforming fire-prone landscapes into zones of strategic defense. From the towering forests of British Columbia to the fire-prone valleys of California, this technology is rewriting how society defends itself against one of nature’s most destructive forces.
The funds will support expansion in high-risk regions, add new layers of AI analysis, and integrate seamlessly with emergency response protocols. Pano AI is also a founding member of the Association of Firetech Innovation, advocating for the adoption of 21st-century tools in wildfire prevention and response.
Pano AI isn’t just building tools; it’s building trust. Across sectors, including utilities, governments, and landholders, it’s redefining what early detection can achieve. As more institutions invest in wildfire technology, AI-powered wildfire detection is fast becoming an essential infrastructure layer in the fight against climate-driven disasters.
