Snorkel AI, a data development platform, has raised $100 million in Series D funding at a $1.3 billion valuation to expand its AI data development platform, launching Snorkel Evaluate and expert datasets that help enterprises deploy large language models with precision.
This funding round, led by Addition and backed by Prosperity 7 Ventures, Greylock, Lightspeed, BNY, and QBE Ventures, brings Snorkel AI’s total capital raised to $237 million since its 2019 inception.
The fresh capital will fuel the expansion of Snorkel AI’s engineering, research, and go-to-market efforts, particularly supporting the launch of its two groundbreaking products: Snorkel Evaluate and Snorkel Expert Data-as-a-Service.
Snorkel AI leads the AI data development space by offering solutions that help enterprises deploy specialized large language models (LLMs) for niche business applications. While LLMs hold enormous promise, enterprises often struggle to implement them effectively. Snorkel AI addresses this challenge by providing programmatic tools and expert datasets to tailor AI systems with precision and accuracy.
Driving Specialized AI with Snorkel AI’s Latest Innovations
The newly available Snorkel Evaluate product revolutionizes how companies assess AI models and agents. It empowers users to build specialized, fine-grained evaluation workflows that move beyond generic benchmarks. Through programmatic dataset creation and error mode correction, Snorkel Evaluate ensures enterprises can confidently scale AI systems from prototype to production.
“We are seeing a surge of momentum around agentic AI, but specialized enterprise agents aren’t ready for production in most settings. Enterprises need domain-specific data and expertise to make this a reality. We’re excited to deliver on this need and help AI innovators develop expert data to bring their LLM and agentic systems into production with our new offerings, which round out Snorkel’s unified AI data development stack,” said Alex Ratner, Co-founder and CEO of Snorkel AI.
Additionally, Snorkel Expert Data-as-a-Service offers a white-glove experience, delivering curated expert datasets for tuning frontier AI systems. This service blends Snorkel AI’s programmatic platform with a network of subject matter experts.
Leading LLM developers already partner with Snorkel AI to generate datasets for advanced reasoning, multi-turn interactions, agentic tool use, and domain-specific knowledge, making this offering a critical asset for specialized AI deployment.
“To unlock Claude’s full potential, we need new evaluation approaches with domain expertise and human feedback. Anthropic is committed to working with innovators like Snorkel AI to ensure AI systems are refined, reliable, and aligned to enterprise needs,” said Kate Jensen, Head of Revenue at Anthropic.
Funding to Power Future Growth and Innovation
With the Series D funding round closed, Snorkel AI plans to channel resources into expanding its platform capabilities and accelerating innovation in AI evaluation and tuning. The infusion of capital underlines investor confidence in Snorkel AI’s unique programmatic approach to AI data development and its growing influence in the AI ecosystem.
Under the leadership of CEO Alex Ratner, Snorkel AI’s commitment to transforming domain knowledge into specialized AI continues to set the company apart. By integrating proprietary datasets with in-house expertise and outsourced expert data, Snorkel AI provides enterprises with a robust and scalable path to deploy AI systems tailored to complex real-world challenges.
“With innovations like Snorkel Expert Data-as-a-Service and Snorkel Evaluate, Snorkel AI enables organizations to build AI models more efficiently and ensure they perform at the highest levels in specialized, real-world applications. This powerful, data-centric approach is accelerating the deployment of reliable AI at scale — and we’re proud to partner with Snorkel AI as they redefine what’s possible in enterprise AI,” said Todd Arfman, Partner at Addition.
