True Anomaly, a fast-growing aerospace startup, has secured $260 million in Series C funding to accelerate space security innovation through its Jackal spacecraft, support US Space Force initiatives, and expand operations across cislunar space. With this funding, the company plans to scale rapidly, execute four complex space missions, and grow its workforce significantly.
The Series C funding round combines equity and debt financing. Venture capital giant Accel led the equity portion, joined by Meritech Capital and returning investors like Eclipse, Riot Ventures, Menlo Ventures, Narya, and others. Stifel Bank backed the debt side, reflecting increasing financial confidence in the aerospace startup’s mission.
This funding allows True Anomaly to deepen vertical integration, enhance production, and launch a strategic expansion that includes new facilities and talent recruitment. The company plans to grow from 170 to over 250 employees within the year, boosting its engineering and mission control capabilities to support defense-related contracts and develop next-gen space technologies.
True Anomaly’s Jackal Spacecraft: Redefining Space Reconnaissance
The Jackal spacecraft is at the core of True Anomaly’s space security mission, a compact, and intelligent vehicle engineered for orbital reconnaissance and close proximity operations. Jackal uses advanced optical and radar sensors to gather high-resolution imagery and track objects in space, making it indispensable for national security surveillance.
Unlike traditional satellites, the Jackal spacecraft can maneuver near other orbital assets, making it suitable for defensive training, satellite inspection, and space situational awareness. These capabilities help the US Space Force detect and respond to threats, particularly in contested orbits.
True Anomaly has already flown its Mission X-2 campaign and is preparing its third Jackal test flight in low Earth orbit. For the first time, the company will also deploy Jackal spacecraft into geostationary and cislunar space, where US military interest is rapidly growing.
Expanding Reach into Cislunar Space
True Anomaly views cislunar space, the region between Earth and the Moon, as the next frontier of space security. With rising geopolitical interest in lunar operations and satellite positioning, the company is proactively launching assets to establish presence and test reconnaissance capabilities beyond Earth’s immediate orbit.
These upcoming missions will demonstrate the flexibility and reliability of the Jackal spacecraft in long-range, autonomous operations. They also signal the aerospace startup’s ambition to serve current defense needs and future lunar and deep-space contingencies.
True Anomaly’s most prominent upcoming engagement is the $30 million Victus Haze mission, a collaboration with the US Space Force under the Tactically Responsive Space initiative. This mission aims to prove how fast the US can deploy and operate a satellite in response to emerging orbital threats.
Firefly Aerospace, the launch partner, will provide the rocket while True Anomaly delivers and operates the Jackal spacecraft for the mission. Victus Haze emphasizes the startup’s role as a key player in developing rapid-response capabilities and strengthening national resilience in orbit.
Nationwide Presence and Manufacturing Expansion
True Anomaly will open a 90,000-square-foot manufacturing hub in Long Beach, California, a short distance from Space Systems Command in Los Angeles, to support this aggressive growth. This proximity will allow closer coordination with military procurement teams and enable faster production cycles.
The company will maintain its headquarters and major engineering operations in Centennial, Colorado, with additional offices in Colorado Springs and Washington, D.C. These sites ensure national reach and support engagement with defense agencies and commercial clients.
CEO Even Rogers leads True Anomaly with a clear vision: deliver an integrated defense platform combining spacecraft, advanced AI, and simulation software. The company recently strengthened its leadership team by appointing Stephen Kitay, former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy, as SVP of Space Defense. Frank Calvelli, former Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration, has also joined the Board of Directors.
These appointments reflect True Anomaly’s serious commitment to space security, aligning internal expertise with national defense priorities. The aerospace startup continues to attract top-tier talent and foster a mission-driven culture committed to innovation and impact.
