Airplane, a provider of an internal tool development platform based in San Francisco, CA, raised $32 million in a Series B funding round led by Thrive capital.
Benchmark, as well as Segment co-founder Calvin French-Owen, Confluent co-founder Neha Narkhede, former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch, Airtable co-founders Howie Liu and Andrew Ofstad, Allison Pickens from The New Normal Fund, Behance founder Scott Belsky, Jarry Glover, Gokul Rajaram, Liu Jiang, Comma Capital, and others, participated in the round.

Airplane intends to use the funds to update and expand the platform, which will help run all internal business systems and expand its team.
Airplane is a software-as-a-service development platform. The company recently released Airplane Views, an update that allows users to create full-featured UIs for internal tools. Combined with what Airplane can already do, this new feature will enable the system to serve as a complete, developer-focused platform for building internal tools.
Airplane aims to save engineers’ time spent on developing internal tools
Airplane was founded in 2020 by Parikh and Josh Ma, previously the CTO of Benchling, a cloud-based biotechnology research and development platform. Parikh and Ma left their respective companies in 2020 after realizing that a lack of internal tooling is one of the most difficult challenges in software development.
Ravi Parikh, the founder of Airplane, said, “Over time, we’ll introduce more primitives that cover a growing set of use cases. Next up on our roadmap is Workflows, a more powerful version of Runbooks that supports a variety of complex use cases. We’re also expanding our integrations library, adding more templates, and continuing to improve the developer experience.”
Since its last round of funding, the company has more than doubled its team size and reached over 200 teams using the product, ranging from small startups to enterprise customers.
